The Gemlik olives (PDO) we use are single origin and single varietal. Our Early Harvest EVOO olives come from Üreğil and Keramet, Türkiye in the Gemlik olive PDO region. They are hand-picked to select for ripeness prior to being cold-pressed into Nicea extra virgin olive oil within eight hours.

Our Early Harvest EVOO has a medium-intense taste with the major tasting note being floral. There are slight bitterness and peppery notes, indicating a higher presence of heart-healthy oleocanthal. It has the aroma of meadow grass and fresh olives. Our Early Harvest oil is the most versatile and can be used for drizzling, dipping, baking, and cooking.

The olives were harvested and pressed on November 4, 2024. The laboratory testing results for the Winter 2024 harvest are:

  • Free Fatty Acids (FFAs): 0.44%

  • UV K270 Absorptance: 0.102

  • Peroxides: 6.58 meq/kg

  • Polyphenols: 162 mg/kg
